Red_Beach

Red Beach is a secluded beach of black and red volcanic rock (and sand) near Akrotiri, on the southern edge of the island of Thira, Santorini (see map).  I was there in April, so all the beaches were vacant like this (in the summer there would be a mob of people here).  The sea water was still a bit too cold for me (but my German friend, Bernd, walking in the distance, enjoyed one quick plunge).  I would recommend going in September to October, when the summer throng of partiers are also absent, but the seas are still warm.
